Responding to planetary challenges through Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)

Are you worried about global warming? Do you know how to contribute and make a difference from a curriculum design perspective?

This keynote introduces key concepts in education for sustainable development (ESD) and highlights some of the work being undertaken by the Association for Learning Design and Education for Sustainable Development (ALDESD) in collaboration with UNESCO IESALC, the Open University, The University of Glasgow, The American University of Sharjah, and Anglia Ruskin University.

Maria has more than 20 years’ experience working with several institutions across the UK, including 10 years as Senior Lecturer and Head of E-learning at the School of Medicine – Imperial College London.

​

Maria is currently working as a Digital Education Consultant and strategist for different organisations of The United Nations: UNESCO IESALC, UNICEF Uzbekistan, UNDP Iraq, UNDP Azerbaijan, UNICEF Europe and Central Asia, UNICEF Malawi, and UNICEF Jordan.

She was selected as one of the top international education influencers of 2021 (Edruptors) by ISC Research because of the impact she has had to affect change for educators in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). She is the Founder and Director of the Association for Learning Design & Education for Sustainable Development.
